“The Three Amigos” is a common and recommended practice in Agile development, especially in teams that follow methodologies like Scrum, Kanban, or Behavior-Driven Development (BDD).

Let’s say your team is working on a new feature: “As a user, I want to reset my password if I forget it.” For the “Reset Password” feature, the Product Owner explains the need, the developer discusses how to build it securely, and the tester identifies edge cases like expired or invalid links. Together, they align on what to build and how to test it — ensuring clarity before development begins.

Many Agile teams, especially in software product companies, startups, and enterprise Agile environments, use Three Amigos as a lightweight, efficient alternative to long requirement documents or formal handovers.While not always called “Three Amigos” officially, the practice of involving Business, Dev, and QA in story discussions is widespread and considered a best practice.
